Where did January Go?

January is coming to an end.
I've heard remarks about the weather, "how tired, people are with the cold and snow."
I've honestly enjoyed January.
Yes, we have had several snow days,
I took those days to rest and enjoy the comfort of my warm house.

There is no other time of the year, as January, when you can relax and say, "the weather is too bad, I'll stay home."
We did make it to school a few days.
While there one of the English Teachers and I had a collaborative lesson on family life and food during the Victorian period. The white shawl I'm wearing was made for me by my grandmother, when I was in the 6th grade. Not quite Victorian. LOL

We had so much fun! :0)
Students were encouraged to dress up,
as a Victorian Tea was a formal affair.

We sampled finger sandwiches, cookies,
and warm tea with lemon.

One afternoon, my class and I prepared refreshments for a meeting.

We chose to make things simple, but tasty.

I love how creative and
excited they become when we do these type of activities.

My Life Connections class has been working on a project since the last of November. We were able to finish this project this past Tuesday. The students were given an assignment to plan a holiday event, with the emphasis on Going Green.

They created tablescapes, invited guests, prepared a budget, prepared dishes and were successful in the given assignment.

I am so proud of them! If I haven't mentioned it in awhile, "I LOVE MY JOB!" I am blessed to have a career that gives me the opportunity to work with young people and encourage their academic development.

All of the tablescapes were created with care to details.

I wish you could have been there, the photos really don't do it justice!

I have also had the opportunity to spend a little time with these young adults. The young man hasn't made it home much since he moved to Louisville, KY last August. When he is able to make it home, we celebrate!

I haven't checked the weather forecast, but if it doesn't snow this week and we go all week, it will be the first full week of school we've had since November 29. I pray you are enjoying this January evening, and remember, February is a short month, then March! Once March arrives, spring is just around the corner!
XOXO

Snow Days 10 - 15

We did have three days of regular school -
Jan. 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Then "Old man winter" made another appearance.

He continued to stay around - actually,
he's still here,
but not quite so obvious now.
We are scheduled to go back tomorrow -
2 hours late, but back we will be. :)
I spent wonderful creative moments with this young lady,
but...
she did have to return to begin her last semester of higher education. Well, for this degree anyway.
This week has exhaustion written all over it.
I'm sorry to say,
I did not keep a working routine while I had this mini winter vacation,
so the thought of getting up early is making me tired. :)
Enjoy your week.
XOXO
